A new EU-China strategy!
As European Parliament standing rapporteur on China I drafted a report with recommendations for a more united and assertive EU strategy towards China. We need such a strategy given China's growing influence in the world, its assertive foreign policy, disinformation campaigns, and violations of international agreements and human rights. Cross-party we agree that Europe must continue to engage with China, but we must not be blind to the challenges that come with China's rise. We must defend our own interests and values.
6 pillars of the strategy
1
Dialogue and cooperation on global challenges
2
Enhanced engagement on universal values, international norms and human rights
3
Analysis and identification of risks, vulnerabilities and challenges
4
Building partnerships with like-minded partners
5
Fostering open strategic autonomy, including in trade and investment relations
